Forest Rest Houses in Corbett National Park

Several Forest Rest Houses managed by the Government Forest Department. Visitors need Permission for staying in the Forest Rest Houses inside the park from the office of the Director. These rest houses are in high demand, so, permission needs to be taken ahead of time.

Bijrani Zone

Bijrani Forest Rest House :

Bijrani, a prominent zone of Corbett Tiger Reserve was famous for quality game hunting during British Rule. Bijrani Forest Rest House is managed by Government and permits night stay in the lap of nature. The territory of Bijrani is is drier and also has more assorted vegetation as contrast with Dhikala.

Malani Forest Rest House :

The rest house is situated on the edge of core zone of tiger reserve, 12 Kms to the northwest of Bijrani. Malani is wonderful forest for travelers. It's surrounding atomosphare offer most pleasant encompassing and isolation. Drive to Malani is quite rewarding experience of watching nature as well as different mammals and birds in their natural territories.

Dhikala Zone

Dhikala Forest Lodge:

Dhikala is paradise for wildlife enthusiast and the most loved destinations in Corbett National Park. It is situated at the edge of the expansive Patli Dun valley through which the Ramgangaflows in various channels. The Tourist Complex overlooks Dhikalachaur (the largest grasslands of the park) and Phulaichaur. You can feel here the calmness of Ramganga with the Kanda ridge in the backdrop and wilderness of Jungle at the same time. Group of elephants, deers pack and different animals can be effectively seen in famous DhikalaChaur. It is home to numerous types of warm bloodedanimals and you can get an opportunity to see the Royal Bengal Tigers, wild elephants. Chital, Hog Deer and various grassland bird species and raptors are other attractions of Corbett Tiger Reserve. The Ramganga Reservoir is a perfect place to observe Crocodiles and Gharialsluxuriating in the banks of Ramganga. The old rest house at Dhikala is a historic structure, having been built over a hundred years ago.

Sultan Forest Rest House :

In the way of Dhangarhi gate to Dhikala, Sultan is the first Forest Rest House of Dhikala Zone. The rest house name Sultan Rest House is kept after the seasonal stream running through that area called Sultan sot. It typifies the dense forest area of pure saal that occupy in the park.

Gairal Forest House :

This rest house can be reached by a short detour of the Dhangarhi-Dhikala main forest road. The prime attraction of this rest house is that it lies on the banks of Ramganga near the place where it first enter the park. Here Ramgangariver is crystal clear, fast flowing mountain river running through the scenic forests. Gairal is out of the way, so, it's natural conditions is ideal for nature watch and wildlife viewing.

Sarapduli Forest House :

This is another forest rest house inside Dhikala, that is located at downstream of Gairal on the flat southern bank of the Ramganga while the opposite northern bank rises steeply to a ridge. Movement of large mammals like tigers and elephants makes Sarapduliunforgatable for wildlife lovers. It is also perfect place to see crocodiles and birds.

Khinnanauli Forest House :

Located in the middle of KhinnanauliChuar, this wonderful forest rest house is an excellent tiger territory. It is one of the recently developed rest houses in order to promote easy tourism to the different locations of the park.

Kanda Forest House :

While most of Corbett has a Shiwalik type of vegetation and topography, the forests at Kanda poses Himalayan characteristics. It is situated in the northern part of the Park flanking the Himalayas. acknowledged as highest rest house in the Park at about 1100 m. one can get a bird’s- eye view of the Park and the Ramganga valley below. The fauna also is typically Himalayan, with mammals like goral, Himalayan black bear and leopards occurring here. Road to Kanda is bumpy and narrow but the surroundings are extremely serene.

Jhirna Zone

Jhirna Forest House :

Jhirna is popular rest house just inside the southern boundary of the Corbett National Park. It lies on that particular road which runs in east-west direction through park from Ramnagar to Kalagarh. The landscape is drier then Dhikala and vegetation is mostly scrub. Jhirna was a farming village till 1994, when it was successfully relocated under project tiger. The abandoned farmland is gradually reverting to a wild state and is being managed to develop grassland habitat. The nearby terrain consists of numerous sots and narrow gorges running through typically Shiwalik landscape. The hills to the north of Jhirna are covered with dense patches of bamboo. This important zone of the Corbett is a good habitat for tiger, elephant, deer and other interesting mammals like sloth bear and wild boar. Visitors can enjoy bird watching as many species of residents and migrated bird can be seen.

Sonanadi Wildlife Sanctuary

Lohachaur Rest House:

It lies on the banks of the river Mandal upstream of its confluence with the Ramganga in the northern part of Corbett Tiger Reserve in the RF buffer area. The entry is from Durga Devi gate.

Rathuadhab Rest House:

Rathuadhab lies on the forest road connecting Durga Devi in the east and Vatanvasa towards the west in the northern buffer. The area is a favoured spot for elephants.

Halduparao Rest House:

Hundred years old this rest house is located between the Palain and Sonanadi rivers a short distance before they drain into the Ramganga reservoir. It is under the Sonanadi Wildlife Sanctuary and is known for its quiet, peaceful surroundings. Halduparao is a good place to watch wild elephants from close quarters during summer.

Entry Permit

Earlier Permission is fundamental for staying in Dhikala Forest House, to make booking inside the park, application need to make least 60 days ahead of time ( opens-up after November fifteenth) the workplace for the bookings, as there is limited accommodation and available on first-come-get basis on only. The Room tariff at Dhikala Old Forest Rest House is two person each Night. Extra person sharing the room is 50% of the room tariff and 100% of the other costs.

NOTE THAT :

Electricity is not available at any other FRH other than Dhikala FRH.
Trekking, Walks and any type of adventure activities is not allowed, while staying in reserve area.
Only Vegetarian food is served at government canteen @ INR 400 (or on actual) for 03 meals per person at Dhikala and Gairal, while at other Rest House at Dhikala area there is No canteen.
Carrying outside food and in possession and consumption of the liquor & cigarette is prohibited and a punishable act.
Entry to the reserve, up to 15:45 hours of the day of you booking. After 16:00 , you cannot enter inside the park irrespective of your confirmed booking.

The Vehicle entry charges, is only towards the entry of the vehicle.This do not include the jeep cost.
